How To Create Your Dream Disney Shoot

It’s always been a dream of mine to have a professional photo shoot in one of the Disney Parks.  When my husband and I decided to honeymoon in California, we looked into the idea a little more. For part of our honeymoon we would be visiting Disneyland for the first time so what better reason to take some photos! We scheduled our photoshoot for our first day in the parks and began planning this dream shoot!

When it comes to scheduling a Disney photo shoot, there are some things to plan for.

Planning The Location

If you’re planning a photo shoot on the West Coast, take advantage of both parks! We made sure to use our Park Hopper to visit both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. Our photoshoot was scheduled for two hours, so it was nice to have both parks so close allowing for more photo time. If you’re planning a photo shoot on the East Coast, choose one park and cover more ground! Since Walt Disney World’s theme parks are larger, there are plenty of photo ideas in each park.

Choose Your Outfits

Our photographer informed us to have two outfits prepared for our photoshoot.  I knew we would be hitting two parks, so I planned different looks for each.

Since Disneyland is dreamy and whimsical, I chose a colorful tulle skirt and sparkly heels.

For the California Adventure portion I knew we would be around Paradise Pier, which calls for a cute but casual outfit!

Get Inspired

Once the photoshoot was locked in, I began searching for photo ideas in Disneyland.  Since I had never visited the park before, I was at a disadvantage for planning.

Thank goodness for Pinterest!  I was able to get inspiration for what photos and poses I wanted and, most importantly, I was able to send those photos to the photographer in advance so she had an idea of my vision.

Prepare For Crowds

Disney Parks are always crowded, so it’s very likely that your photos may feature some strangers walking in the background! Luckily, if you’re working with a photographer who has experience in Disney photo shoots, they will have tricks to work around this.

An important fact to know is that your photographer is not allowed to ask people to move out of the way because it could disrupt someone’s park experience.  For our shoot we found that, for the most part, once park-goers understand what’s happening they are willing to cooperate.

Have Fun!

Between outfit changes, lighting, and other variables photo shoots can be overwhelming.  When having a Disney shoot, try to let your stress go by the way side.  I came to the photo shoot with ideas in mind, but our photographer was able to take them to the next level!

She added special location shots based on our interests. I told her about my love for everything Tangled, so she took some shots by Rapunzel’s Tower! We are from Louisiana, so we took photos in New Orleans Square.  You’re in the Happiest Place on Earth, so have fun with it and make the most of the time you have!

Looking back, I am so happy that my husband and I arranged this special shoot. We will always have these photos to cherish from not only our honeymoon, but our first trip to Disneyland!

I would never have thought to do this just because of the crowds and the logistics but you guys rocked it. I think the tea cups are my favorite especially in the later one where you guys are laughing. I also like the face of shock some little boy off to the right is making in the pic where you guys are kissing with your leg up.

Such lovely photos and it looks like an unforgettable experience! We had the photo people at Disney do all of our photos when we went, I was 7 months pregnant with my youngest. It was the last trip we ever took with her being the only baby… technically. We will always have those photos to remember that time of our lives.
