Disney Eats: Whispering Canyon Cafe

Looking for new suggestions for Disney dining reservations? I’ve got you covered! While visiting Walt Disney World in March, Paris and I took full advantage of our Disney Dining Plan exploring restaurants all over the property. (We checked out so many that I still haven’t gotten to writing about them all! You can read my food reviews for 50’s Prime Time Cafe and Boma here.)

One restaurant that I experienced for the first time on that vacation was Whispering Canyon Cafe. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! From the gorgeous architecture to the stunning, roaring waterfall, although I haven’t stayed here yet it will always be on my Disney Resort Bucket List. Since Whispering Canyon Cafe is located right in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge’s lobby, that meant I would have the chance to visit this grand resort once again!

Mixed Greens Salad

A perk of making reservations at Whispering Canyon Cafe is that, unlike many restaurants on property, achieving reservations to this resort is fairly easy. Whispering Canyon Cafe has more of an Old Western feel, which reminds we a lot of Frontierland! Another perk? All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Milkshakes! That’s right — Whispering Canyon Cafe’s Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Caramel Milkshakes are unlimited with your meal. How fun!

All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Skillet

Their dinner menu offers both family-style and individual entree options for guests. Since we were on the Disney Dining Plan and stuck between a few entree options, Paris and I opted for the family-style meal! For $33.00 per person, we were able to dig into their All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Skillet. This skillet included a Family-style Mixed Greens Salad Dressed with an Apple Vinaigrette as our appetizer. For our meal we enjoyed Fresh Cornbread, Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Citrus Herb Chicken, Oak-smoked Beef Brisket, Western-style Sausage, Mashed Yukon Potatoes, Buttered Corn, Seasonal Farm-fresh Vegetables, and Cowboy-style Baked Beans. (Vegan options are available upon request.) Needless to say, we had a lot of food to enjoy!

My share of delicious food!

In my opinion, if you’re doing the Disney Dining Plan this family-style option is the most valuable choice on the menu. You can continue to ask for refills of any of the fare you enjoy — so don’t be shy! Speaking of shy — your servers will horse around with you at the table. Much like the experience at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, Whispering Canyon Cafe is all about the gags. Our server seemed to pick up on the fact that we were more low key people and didn’t bother with us too much, but we enjoyed watching the servers interact in that way with the tables around us! I’d say it was a worthwhile experience.

Seasonal Cheesecake — Strawberry

We finished up our meal with desserts. I chose the Seasonal Cheesecake, which happened to be strawberry — my favorite! The cheesecake was delicious and served in a mini mason jar. Paris enjoyed their Fruit Buckle dessert topped with ice cream — YUM!

Fruit Buckle Dessert

That March evening was surprisingly cold, so Paris and I spent some time in the lobby after dinner enjoying their rocking chairs and warm fireplace. We had plans to try Berry Whip that evening as well, but with the cold weather we ended up just heading back to our resort! (You can learn more about Berry Whip here!)
