What’s Gnu With The Jungle Cruise

Back in January, Disney Parks Blog announced story enhancements would be coming to the World-Famous Jungle Cruise on both coasts. Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom are both due for this upgrade, and this week we finally got a peek into what’s in store.

Jungle Cruise Enhancements

According to Disney Parks Blog, we can expect several new scenes along our river cruise that will all be interconnected. These new adventures will still feature their world-famous skippers, but their storylines and comedic tone with be enhanced. In January they provided concept art that portrays some of the colorful and fun changes that could be coming to the Jungle Cruise.

Imagineer Kevin Lively discusses the upcoming gnu changes to this attraction that holds a special place in his heart. In fact, before he became an Imagineer, he was a Jungle Cruise skipper at Disneyland Park! Some of the other story expansion projects for the Jungle Cruise that he’s been a part of include: the Jingle Cruise, The Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, and the Tropical Hideaway. In this video he shares some of what we can expect to see, and some current Jungle Cruise skippers’ reactions to a special sneak peek of the changes, too.

For the first time ever, your journey will be led by your skipper as you follow the story of another skipper as their tour’s journey goes awry. As we make our way through their newly enhanced version of the attraction we’ll learn that the animals and the jungle itself will have the last laugh!

Alberta Falls

In Disney Parks Blog‘s most recent update we learned that they will be expanding the attraction’s backstory even further with the new addition of Alberta Falls. Alberta is the granddaughter of Dr. Albert Falls — world renowned-proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd.

Walt Disney opened his dream park, Disneyland, over 65 years ago on July 17, 1955. One of its opening day attractions that still entertains guests to this day? The Jungle Cruise! These new attraction enhancements fall right in line with his theme for The Happiest Place on Earth all along:

“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” -Walt Disney

Imagineers continue to keep his dream alive with updates to Disney Parks attractions and experiences around the globe. I’m excited to see what the new enhancements will bring to the current Disney Parks classic! Keep checking back for updates, Disney Parks Blog promises more details dropping later this year.
