Four Perks Of Traveling For Business
Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? This past weekend I got to embark on my first business trip and it was a blast! I got a chance to visit Dallas for the very first time, tried a lot of great food, and made a ton of memories. Still not convinced you want to participate? Here’s my reasons to take that trip!
Breaking Away From The Routine
Being on a constant schedule week after week can feel monotonous. For me, getting a chance to change my normal day to day is refreshing. I find that I’m able to get in my best mindset when I can step back from my usual scenario. This trip was definitely proof of that because on the plane ride there I was really able to conquer some major mental blocks!
Oh The Insiders
It’s inevitable. When you spend so much time with a group of people, inside jokes are bound to happen! A business trip is no exception to this rule. I personally love insiders, I think they keep things fun! Sure not everyone in the office will get them, but some things are just meant for the memory box.
Seeing The Sights
One of my favorite things to do when I visit a new city is sightseeing! Since this was my first time in Dallas I was ready to take in as many experiences as I could. I’m a huge history person so getting a chance to visit Dealey Plaza was exciting to me! In addition to historic places, city locals are great for suggesting restaurants and things to do while you’re visiting. We ended up getting to see and do a lot while we were there!
New Friendships
There’s just something about traveling for a weekend with people that can bring you together. On our weekend business trip I got a chance to bond with some coworkers that I don’t normally get to see and it was awesome! The best part for me was that at the end of the trip I feel like I’ve gained some great friendships. It’s amazing what a difference 48 hours together can make!
Looking back on this trip only a week later, I am so glad that I had the opportunity that I did. It means a lot that I was able to not only represent my company at a conference, but get a chance to hang out with some pretty great coworkers! Whether it’s across the country or just a state away, a business getaway is such a fun experience. If you’re ever given the chance, take my advice and just GO!
Where would your ideal business trip be?

January 19, 2017 at 4:51 amWhat an excellent post, thanks for sharing! I’ve business traveled in Europe couple times. It’s so much fun to make new international friends, got to see new places, maybe go sightseeing or shopping after the official things are done for the day. I have also loved the hotels where we’ve been. My experience is that usually business travelers are in nice hotels with good food and activities nearby.
