First Look at New Disney’s Contemporary Resort Rooms

Walt Disney World Resort opened to the public on October 1, 1971. Along with Magic Kingdom Park, the Vacation Kingdom offered two resort hotels on opening day — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort & Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Almost five decades later, both of these locations are still a part of any Disney fan’s resort hotel bucket list!

As we work our way towards the anniversary of the first half-century of Walt Disney World, it’s no surprise that these resorts’ rooms were in need of some refreshing. Today, Disney Parks Blog gave us a first look at the incredible new vision for rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Resort Enhancements

The theme for this room enhancement is a retro-modern aesthetic to play off of the Tomorrowland views not too far from this resort. In perfect Disney fashion, the rooms will be themed to a Pixar film that’s set in a similar era. It’s a pretty incredible collaboration effort — any guesses?

All nine floors of this A-frame tower are currently undergoing a complete refurbishment, so if you’re staying here in the fall once everything is updated — get excited!

Let’s take a look at some of the super details guests can expect to find in these newly-renovated rooms.

Room Tour

The furniture is sleek and fits in perfectly with the retro modern vibe.

As for Disney details, you don’t have to spend too much time hunting to find something magical about these rooms. The beds feature Edna Mode and Frozone throw pillows and within the middle nightstand drawer you’ll spot some items that only the Incredibles would leave behind. (Bits of Yum Yum Cookies, a math textbook, the remote to the Incredibile, and more!

When it comes to the bathroom and closet area, you’re still met with sleeky, modern style with a super twist. The modern art on the bathroom wall features the many sides of Jack Jack and when you go to hang up your clothes in the closet, you’ll already find the Incredibles’ suits and masks there, too!

Once the Disney’s Contemporary Resort tower rooms are completely renovated, work will begin on the garden wing rooms near Bay Lake, too.

I’ve only had the opportunity to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the garden wing, so with this first look at the renovated rooms I’m going to need to finally check the A-frame tower room off of my list!

Anniversary Extras

There’s still more exciting enhancements coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort lobby and The Wave… of American Flavors. The lobby of the resort will see a collection of modern art pieces and historical photographs from Disney’s Contemporary Resort construction and development timeline. One of my favorite resort restaurant locations, The Wave… of American Flavors, will be closing soon as well for a brief time to transform the space into a reimagined dining experience just in time for the 50th anniversary!

These magical updates are part of an ongoing evolution for Disney Resort Hotels across property. Imagineers and other Magic Makers have been working to make sure that the magic of Disney extends far beyond the theme parks while you’re on vacation. It’s safe to say that updates like these are only the start when it comes to news for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” I’m excited to keep updating y’all as new information in released, so keep checking back with Kait Around The Kingdom!
