Disney Eats: Grand Floridian Cafe
Practically perfect in every way. There’s no better way to describe how I feel when I spend time at Walt Disney World’s Flagship Resort! I’ve always loved the Grand Floridian. Although I’ve only had the chance to stay there once in my life, it has always been a special place to me.
On my most recent trip to Disney, we made reservations for a late lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe and it was nothing short of wonderful! This was our first time eating the the resort in over ten years so we were excited to some time there again.
What I love about eating at a resort over a restaurant in the parks is that it gives you a chance to get away from the madness and crowds for just a little while. A meal a the Grand Floridian is perfect for a park day in Magic Kingdom or even Epcot because you can easily get there by monorail! Since we were visiting during December, this gave us a chance to admire all of the beautiful Christmas decorations around the resort.
The Grand Floridian Cafe is located on the first floor of the main building of the resort and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One thing I love about the menu is that no matter what type of food you’re in the mood for, it’s available all day long! So if I’m feeling Mickey Waffles for lunch, that’s totally possible.
The theming of the restaurant goes hand in hand with the beautiful Victorian resort! The dining area has large open windows with lots of natural light. There is a rose at every table and those seated by the window get a great view of the rest of the resort grounds! Our table inspired us to take a walk outside after our meal and stay awhile.
When I saw there was Carmelized Onion Soup Gratinée on the menu, I knew exactly what I was getting! This is a traditional French Onion Soup which one of my favorite meals and Grand Floridian Cafe’s was did not disappoint. My mom ordered a Seasonal Pear Salad, which is a salad of Organic Baby Lettuce, Pear, Goat Cheese, Granola Crumbles, Dried Cranberries, and Pomegranate with Maple-Balsamic Vinaigrette as her appetizer and enjoyed every bite! For her entree, she enjoy their Penne Pasta with Pan Roasted Chicken, Seasonal Vegetables, and a creamy Basil Pistoui. Kevin enjoyed a meal of chicken nuggets and fries and ate every last bite!
As if the atmosphere, service, and food wasn’t enough, we also found out that Grand Floridian Cafe offers a Annual Passholder discount! When it comes to restaurants on property, this is huge because restaurants with discounts are few and far between. That extra 20% off was such an exciting surprise! We were already planning on coming back to Grand Floridian Cafe on future trips, but that was just the cherry on top.
I was sure to leave our server Alex a #CastCompliment on Twitter because he gave us great service and saved us 20% on our meal in the end!
Whether it’s your first or your fiftieth time at Walt Disney World, I highly suggest making a reservation at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Aside from their great menu that offers options for everyone in the family, this restaurant is one that you can book a reservation for without a lot of trouble! There’s nothing better than stress-free planning in my opinion. Save that stress for trying to book a Fastpass+ for Flight of Passage or one of the other major attractions!
After the amazing experience I had at this restaurant that is rarely mentioned, I know I’ll be back for future trips! Do yourself a favor and take it easy on your next Disney vacation. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a great meal in an even better resort!
Where would you love to have a meal in Walt Disney World?

December 12, 2017 at 10:10 pmOh my gosh! I walked right past this cafe the last time I was there with two of my best friends. We should have stopped to have lunch or something. We did have breakfast at the Polynesian Resort…I think it’s called the Kona Cafe. And we had lunch at the Be Our Guest dining area. I don’t remember the name, but we tried the gray stuff and it is delicious!
