Today I’m sharing nine programs on Disney Plus that you can watch right now if you’re missing the Disney Parks! Don’t forget to check out my top Disney Parks Loops post here, too.
Disney Parks Sunrise Series
If you want a new magical way to start your day, you need to check out the Disney Parks Sunrise Series. Each 60-minute episode features relaxing music and views of Disney Parks icons as the sun continues to rise. You’ll see angles of these icons not normally seen by guests while enjoying the music and starting your day on a bright note. There are currently only three episodes available in the series, but, hopefully, with the parks reopening around the globe, Disney Plus will be adding more parks to the series someday. You can watch Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT on Disney Plus now!
The Mouseketeers at Walt Disney World
In 1977, a Walt Disney World special featuring the New Mickey Mouse Club premiered. This special shows a unique view of the Most Magical Place on Earth because at this point in time there was only one theme park! The group visits defunct waterpark River Country, the monorail, Disney’s Fort Wilderness, Magic Kingdom, and more. If you visited Walt Disney World during its first decade, you’ll surely feel some nostalgia watching this Mouseketeers special!
Disneyland Around The Seasons
This next show is one that ended up being an important part of Disney history, airing three days after Walt Disney’s death. On Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, Walt takes us through some of the recent and future changes at Disneyland in 1966. Disneyland Classics like ‘it’s a small world’ and Pirates of the Caribbean are mentioned and we have the chance to watch the opening of New Orleans Square. My mom always talked about watching Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color as a kid, so when I saw this special on Disney Plus it made it to the top of my watch list.
Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom
If you love behind the scenes at Disney Parks, you’re going to want to watch Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This series is narrated by Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf) and each episode gives viewers a deeper look into the lives of various species that call Disney’s Animal Kingdom home. There are currently only six episodes in this series, but hopefully in the future they’ll add even more Disney’s Animal Kingdom content for us to enjoy!
The Pre-Opening Report From Disneyland
While we patiently away The Disneyland Show to make its arrival on Disney Plus, this blast from Disney’s past will have to do! If you enjoyed our episode on Disneyland’s opening day on The Carousel Project or my Disney Throwback on the same topic, you’ll enjoy watching this special episode of The Disneyland Show. The opening of Disneyland is only days away and Walt Disney brings audiences at home up to date on Disneyland’s progress. With Disneyland Resort reopening in only a little over two weeks, this could be a great way to prep as your make your way back to the Happiest Place on Earth!
Disney Illuminations
If you’re a sucker for Disney fireworks, you’ll love this presentation of Disney Illuminations from Disneyland Paris. As someone who hasn’t been able to experience a Disney fireworks show in over a year, watching this on Disney Plus for the first time made me emotional. (And even more convinced that I NEED to visit Disneyland Paris!) Through the magic of projections, water, music, and fireworks, Disneyland Paris brings moments from some of your favorite Disney and Pixar films (and more) to life in this 18 minute special.
Decorating Disney Holiday Magic
My favorite time of the year at the Disney Parks is during the holidays. As a kid I always dreamed of experiencing Walt Disney World at Christmastime, and now it’s a yearly tradition for me and my friends! I still have Disneyland at Christmastime on my Ultimate Disneyland Bucket List, but fingers crossed I’ll be checking it off soon. This 2017 special takes viewers behind the magic of turning Disneyland and Walt Disney World into the Most Merriest Places on Earth! From park transformations to decorations and gingerbread displays, you’re going to want to take in all of the holiday details from this special!
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings
Imagine having your dream Disney wedding at one of the Disney Parks or on the Disney Cruise Lines. Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings offers two seasons of Disney weddings to inspired future Disney wedding goals! Even if you’re already married, like me, it’s still fun to see what kind of details Disney can add to your special day when you pick one of the most magical locations on the planet.
The Imagineering Story
I saved the very best of this list for LAST because this series is a must-watch for any Disney fan. The Imagineering Story is a Disney Plus original series that takes viewers behind the. magic of every Disney theme park! Each episode is a little over an hour and is chock full of information and behind the scenes details of Walt Disney Imagineering. As an aspiring Disney Historian, I truly feel that is this the most valuable piece of programming on Disney Plus! Even if you’re not obsessed with Disney Parks, it’s still interesting to see the history behind some of today’s modern marvels we are lucky enough to call theme parks.
Well, there you have it! The Ultimate Disney Plus Watch Guide When You’re Missing the Disney Parks. Whether you just got back from the Disney Parks or you’re still counting down to your vacation, I hope you find the perfect distraction on this list for your Disney Withdrawals. I can’t wait to see what other Disney Parks content Disney Plus may add for us in the future!
