Everything You Need To Know About Disneyland Resort’s Reopening

Last month Disney Parks Blog dropped the exciting announcement that Disneyland Resort would reopen on April 30, 2021. After over a year with no guests, it’s an exciting time for cast members at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Now that we’re in the month of April, it’s time to talk about Theme Park Reservations, Park Hours, Tickets, and more!

Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are reopening on April 30, 2021, with enhanced health and safety measures — just like Walt Disney World’s reopening last July. Guest capacity will be limited with the help of a new theme park reservation system.  Here’s everything you need to know about Disneyland Resort’s reopening!

Theme Park Reservations

To enter Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, you must have both a valid admission ticket and a theme park reservation for the same park and the same date. This will be required across the board for guests ages three and up. Theme park reservations can’t be made unless you’ve got a valid theme park admission ticket, and reservations will be limited and subject to availability. Only California residents may visit Disneyland Resort for the time being, and in groups no larger than three households, in line with current state guidelines.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Starting April 12, 2021, the theme park reservation system will launch, and guests with existing valid theme park tickets can start making park serrations for the days that their ticket is valid. On April 15, 2021, theme park ticket sales at Disneyland Resort will resume, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations for their next Disneyland getaway! To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, Disneyland Resort park reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis. Ticket calendars will also be updated on a rolling basis, so check back for availability.

Key Dates To Remember

There’s a lot to look forward to with Disneyland Resort finally reopening, but here are the most important dates to note this month!

April 9, 2021: If you currently have a theme park ticket for Disneyland Resort, starting April 9, 2021, you can check available days for your 1-day ticket type on Disneyland.com/ParkUpdates.

April 12, 2021: The Disneyland Resort theme park reservations system will open at 8 AM PT (no earlier!) on April 12, and guests who already have valid theme park tickets can begin making theme park reservations.

April 15, 2021: Guests without theme park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations on April 15, 2021. Ticket sales will open at 8 AM PT on this day.

Pro Tip: Logging into your Disney account first to link your theme park tickets will make accessing the park reservation system much easier. Follow these four steps to make your theme park reservations for Disneyland Resort!

Park Hopping & Hotel Guests

Guests with Park Hopper tickets for Disneyland Resort may choose which theme park to start their day in when making their theme park reservations. Anytime after 1 PM on that same day (pending availability) Park Hoppers can visit the other park and experience all that Disneyland Resort has to offer! Guests with multi-day tickets must make separate park reservations for each day they plan to visit the theme parks at Disneyland Resort.

Disney's Grand Californian Standard Room

Guests who are planning to stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will still require valid theme park admission tickets and theme park reservations. (Their hotel stay does not guarantee them a theme park reservation!) If you’re planning an upcoming stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and want to visit the theme parks too, Disney Parks Blog suggests getting your theme park reservations locked in before you make your hotel reservation. Contact your travel professional or visit Disneyland.com starting April 15, 2021, to start booking room reservations and travel packages. Read about my stay at Disney’s Grand Californian HERE!

Table service bookings will reopen on April 22, 2021, with limited capacity. In an effort to maintain physical distancing upon reopening, table service bookings will be subject to availability. They’ll be sharing all the information to need to know to get back to the magic at the Happiest Place on Earth! Although this opening is limited to California residents and I won’t be making my way back to Disneyland for a bit, I’m excited to experience everyone’s adventures as they make it back to Walt’s original Magic Kingdom for this park’s second opening day.
