French Quarter Feels

Theming at Disney is some of my favorite kind of magic. It always amazes me the details and extra attention that they put into it to help transport their guests to another place!

Theming is so prominent in the Disney theme parks, but it doesn’t stop there. Disney goes the extra mile and adds this magic touch to restaurants, water parks, and even resorts!

At Walt Disney World guests have an opportunity to stay in over 25 different resorts, all with their own unique theme and vibe!

On my latest trip I splurged a little and stayed a few nights at Port Orleans Riverside resort! Being from Louisiana it was fun to find a little home away from home here.

During our stay we made a trip over to Port Orleans French Quarter and it was simply wonderful! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the fact that my favorite state has two different resorts based after it.

Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside are just a short walk from each other, but each have their own unique Louisiana feels. French Quarter features colorful buildings with beautiful balconies, while showcasing a little Mardi Gras flair along the way! (Imagine the real French Quarter, but clean!) Riverside has more of a Garden District feel with hotel buildings that resemble gorgeous mansions complete with breathtaking courtyards. (Columns, gables, and all!)

I couldn’t help but feel right at home during our few days here! It’s one of those resorts that has so many exciting things happening there that you can spend a day or two taking it all in and having a break from the parks — I really liked that.

It’s funny because every time a Cast Member realized we were from Louisiana and staying at the Port Orleans resorts, they couldn’t help but laugh! “You leave Louisiana to stay at a Louisiana resort?!” they would say. (But would you expect any less from us Louisianans? We like what we like, okay?)

Aside from the beautiful architecture and ambiance, I loved how they offered some pretty cool Louisiana tastes! Guests can try beignets, pralines, gumbo, and more. I can’t suggest their little mini king cakes, but hey — ya win some ya lose some!

If this trip and extra resort hopping has taught me anything, its to never stop looking for the magic around the Walt Disney World resort. Just when I had thought I’d seen it all, I found myself in awe all over again. How cool is that?!
