Five Fun Facts About Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion is a classic Disney Parks attraction. Originally dreamt up by Walt Disney himself as a walk-through attraction, this ghoulishly delightful ride as become a must-do for any Walt Disney World goer! To celebrate this scary good attraction, here are five fun facts about the Haunted Mansion.
Pet Cemetery
Around the grounds of the Haunted Mansion you’ll find various tombs and graveyards of all sorts. As you exit the attraction, you’ll want to look up and to the left. Here you’ll find a pet cemetery, but if you take a closer look you’ll find a familiar amphibian. Mr. Toad is located here, which is fitting since his attraction, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, which used to be located in Magic Kingdom was closed for good in September of 1998.
Interactive Queue
The Haunted Mansion is home to one of the most exciting waiting areas in all of Magic Kingdom. While you wait in the standby line, you’re able to play a series of interactive games to help you pass the time! From solving a mystery to “playing” instruments and helping to inspire ghost writers, there are quite a few activities to take part in before you’re united with your Ghost Host inside.
Tombstone Meanings
Much like everything else at the Disney parks, no detail is random! In an attraction like the Haunted Mansion, lots of tombstones would be expected in the decoration and design. What makes these tombstones special though is that they all display the names of Imagineers who were a part of bringing this attraction to life!
On-Ride PhotoPass
This attraction is home to the newest on-ride PhotoPass photo shot at the Walt Disney World resort! The PhotoPass shot was added in early April and will automatically be uploaded to your My Disney Experience account after you’ve finished your tour through the Haunted Mansion. Aside from being the newest, it was also the 13th PhotoPass on-ride photo — pretty spooky right?
Multiple Locations
The Haunted Mansion is a classic Disney attraction that can be found in multiple Disney parks across the globe. The original Haunted Mansion is located in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. Next, is Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion that can be found in Liberty Square. Tokyo Disneyland hosts its ghosts in their Haunted Mansion, which is located in Fantasyland. Disneyland Paris is home to the Phantom Manor, located in Frontierland. Lastly, Hong Kong Disneyland features an attraction, Mystic Manor, that quite different from the original Haunted Mansion, but does feature some nods to the classic attraction.
