Home Improvements at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion
Disneyland Resort reopens later this month, (April 30, 2021) and the ghosts of the Haunted Mansion have been preparing. While no guests have visited New Orleans Square in over a year, the ghosts haven’t left! They’ve freshly landscaped the grounds and added some new elements inside the mansion that you’ll want to look out for.
The Haunted Mansion has been entertaining guests at Disney Parks across the globe for over 50 years. The very first home to Happy Haunts is located in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. This original version is also home to the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay that features Jack Skellington and other characters from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Happy Haunts’ Handiwork
Updates have been made to the burial grounds of dearly departed pets. From fresh landscaping to new “tales,” you’re going to want to pay this area a visit on your next trip to the Haunted Mansion. The changes don’t stop outside of the mansion, though.
Disney Parks Blog urges guests to pay close attention to the portrait hallway. There are supposed to be a few design embellishments, including the return of one of the Haunted Mansions’ original portraits, “April to December.” This portrait, which was removed from the Haunted Mansion’s portrait sometime in the mid-2000s, will age right before your eyes!
Keep your eyes peeled as you board your Doom Buggy once again. You never know what other elements have been updated thanks to some handiwork from the Happy Haunts!
Disneyland Reopening
Disneyland Resort reopens on April 30, 2021 to California residents. Both a theme park reservation and a valid admission ticket (for the same park on the same date) are required for all guests ages 3 and up. Theme park reservations cannot be created without a valid theme park admission ticket, so grab yours as soon as you can. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen as well on April 29, 2021. Guests of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa are not guaranteed a theme park reservation and must reserve their spot to enter Disneyland Resort during their hotel stay.
Disneyland’s reopening is a little over two weeks away! (You can read all about Disneyland’s original opening day here.) Knowing that there is so much to look forward to once guests step through those gates just makes my heart soar. Here’s to hoping I can make my way back to Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion again sometime later this year!
