Six Reasons To Visit Walt Disney World For The Holidays

A visit to Walt Disney World any time of the year is magical.  There’s always something different going on! I’ve only gotten to visit Walt Disney World for the holidays once, but that had to be one of my favorite trips so far! I’ve got a list of reasons why you should visit Walt Disney World for Christmas at least ONCE in your life!

6. The Smells

Every year after Thanksgiving and through the new year, the Disney Parks transform! You’ll definitely notice a change in the decor of the parks, but one change you may not notice is the scent. On Main Street, you’ll usually smell vanilla year round, but for Christmas the scent is changed to peppermint! Between the lights, the decorations, and the peppermint smell, it’s definitely a perfect Christmas feel on Main Street in Magic Kingdom.

5. The Christmas Trees

When Disney does anything, they do it BIG! Christmastime is no exception in their theme parks. If you think the theming of their attractions is cool, wait until you experience all of the different trees around the Walt Disney World resort! How many Christmas trees are there at the resort? 1,300 different trees can be found on property at Christmastime! Each tree has a unique look, down to the ornaments! For example, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios trees will be geared toward a movie and film theme. Aside from the Walt Disney World theme parks, each resort has trees with their own themes as well! When you visit, be sure to check out as many trees as you can.

4. The Weather

If decorations aren’t a drive for you, the weather should be! No matter where you’re coming from, it’s pretty likely that the weather in Central Florida is warmer! While snow and cold weather is great, it can be nice to get away from that for a little while and still enjoy the rest of the Christmas experience!

3. The Holidays Around The World

One experience that Walt Disney World offers that other parks don’t is the chance to experience different countries all in one park.  This experience is enhanced at Christmastime when you can learn about the holidays in each of these counties.  Between specific foods for the holiday season served around the World Showcase and the Storytellers in each country, there is a lot of see and do! One of my favorites is visiting the American Adventure and listening to the Voices of Liberty sing Christmas Carols!

2. The Food

The snacks at Walt Disney World are already amazing, but there’s just something about new treats for the holiday season! The Main Street Confectionary is full of treats that have a Christmas look! For example, you can enjoy a snowflake candied apple or a Christmas Mickey rice crispy treat! Cool mint cupcakes and plenty of other red and green treats can be found around the resort! In the World Showcase, you can taste Gingerbread ice cream in France and it’s pretty magical!

1. The Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

When most people think of Walt Disney World for Christmas, their first thought is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Who can blame them? It’s kind of a big deal! This is a Christmas experience like no other. There’s a magical snowfall, Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, Holiday Wishes fireworks show and special character greetings!  The event only takes place on certain nights throughout November and December from 7:00 PM to midnight and there is a separate event fee for access to this party!

If you find yourself looking for a special vacation for the holiday season, keep Walt Disney World in mind!  Everyone should experience Christmas at Disney at least once in their lives. It’s definitely not your average trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!

I bet Epcot is so much fun during the holidays! Disneyland always gets way too crowded for my place, but I bet in Disneyworld the crowds are a little more spread out among the four parks! Their decorations are amazing though.
