Dole Whip: If You Haven’t Tried It, You Should.
Before Feburary 2015, I had never yet tasted this delicious pineapple dessert. Dole Whip was just not on my radar as a Walt Disney World snack. I had really only heard about the treat through Pinterest and Disney blogs so I was still skeptical to try it. I don’t have many regrets in life, but putting off this Disney classic would have to be one of them.
For those of you who have never tried it, Dole Whip is a pineapple soft-serve treat which is exclusively available in a four locations:
1. Aloha Isle- Adventureland, Magic Kingdom
Aloha Isle is located right next to Aladdin’s Magic Carpets in Adventureland. This location sells Pineapple Spears, Pineapple Dole Whip cups, Orange Dole Whip cups, Dole Whip Floats, and Dole Whip Twist cups. If you’re in Magic Kingdom near Liberty Square, Frontierland, or Main Street U.S.A. you are right around the corner from a pineapple delight!
2. Tiki Juice Bar- Adventureland, Disneyland
The Tiki Juice Bar has a more limited menu than the Magic Kingdom location. At this stand, you can purchase Pineapple Dole Whips, Dole Whip Floats, Dole Whip Twist cups, Pineapple Spears, and Dole Pineapple Juice. What separates this location from the others is their Tiki Bowl option. Customers can pay $8.79 to have their Dole Whip served in a souvenir Tiki Bowl from the location.
3. Tamu Tamu Refreshments- Africa, Animal Kingdom
Tamu Tamu is a refreshments location that serves more than the pineapple delight. As far as their Dole Whip products are concerned, they offer the pineapple soft-serve referred to as “Pineapple Whip Soft-Serve.” In addition to this Disney Parks classic, the location also offers a more adult option. Customers, 21 years and older, have the option to purchase Pineapple Whip Soft-Serve with either a Dark Rum or a Coconut Rum. This alcoholic dessert is available for only $6.50!
4. Dole Plantation- Central Oahu, Hawaii
The fourth and final location where Dole Whip is regularly available is not a Disney Park! In Oahu, Hawaii tourists can visit the Dole Plantation and enjoy Dole Whip as a part of the experience.
I think the reason why Dole Whip is so successful in the Disney theme parks is because it creates a tradition or special treat for visitors of the parks. Disney parks have always done an amazing job of creating traditions with their signature park snacks. From Mickey Bars to turkey legs, when I think of a trip to Disney there are park snacks on my mind as well. If you ask any Disney lover where to find them on a hot day in Magic Kingdom, most would admit to being in line at Aloha Isle in Adventureland.
Marketing has taken customers’ obsession to the next level by creating Dole Whip themed merchandise including t-shirts and even car air fresheners!
Still not convinced? Disney lovers around the world are still trying to master this soft serve treat on their own. Dole Whip has pages and pages of Pinterest posts devoted to perfecting its recipe from home! I can admit to having tried a recipe or two to hold me over until my next vacation, but nothing compares to a Dole Whip in Magic Kingdom.
So whether you believe you’d like it or not, I urge you to try something new the next time you find yourself in Adventureland. I must warn you though, Dole Whip can be very addicting. Be prepared to buy more than one on your trip!

September 29, 2016 at 6:07 amI went to college near Disneyland and this was one of my favorite snacks there 🙂 It is so refreshing on a hot day! And there is really nothing comparable that you can pick up from the store any old time so it always felt like something special.

November 4, 2016 at 10:30 amI’m not too sure if I like the sound of Dole Whip, is it just like Pineapple ice cream? We have whippy ice cream here in the UK and it looks like that but it just tends to be vanilla flavoured. Glad you enjoyed it though 😊

November 4, 2016 at 11:47 amIt’s lovely to have traditions like that – having a special treat only available at Disney is a great idea!
I am a vegan so not sure this treat would be suitable for me 🙂
