How To Spread Kindness With A #CastCompliment
“Where there is kindness there is goodness, and where there is goodness there is MAGIC.”
No matter which Disney park you’re visiting around the world, it’s hard to deny the magic that you feel while you’re there. Anyone who has visited a Disney park knows that the magic isn’t just in the attractions. It’s in the theming throughout the parks. It’s in the sights and sounds and smells you get to experience. And most importantly, in the Cast Members!
The Disney parks have a staff of employees like no other. After visiting Disney countless times over the past 22 years, I’ve grown to have a huge respect and love of these magic makers throughout my happy place. Cast Members work day in and day out to make each guest’s vacation as unforgettable as possible! Why let this extra effort on their part go unnoticed?
In the past the only way a guest could make a Cast Member aware of the impact they made on their vacation was either in the moment in person, or by taking a walk to the Guest Relations desk in the designated park. With an average of over 50,000 visitors per day in Walt Disney World, it’s easy for us as guests to get overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of the busy park and forget to leave those kind words for the Cast Member who touched our hearts.
Now that problem is a thing of the past with the ability to tweet a #CastCompliment on Twitter! This feature is a game changer in my opinion because when you receive some magic from a Cast Member, you’ll want to immediately gush about it and what better way than on Twitter to the Main Mouse himself?! (And honestly what else are you doing while waiting in line besides checking your social media for the hundredth time anyway?)
Here’s a few cast compliments I tweeted while on my last trip!
By using the hashtag #CastCompliment and tweeting @WDWToday directly, I let the Walt Disney World Twitter account know about their amazing cast members. The fun doesn’t stop there though! The @WDWToday Twitter account will acknowledge your compliment (usually within the hour) and then they pass your compliment on to that Cast Member! How cool is that?
My favorite part is when they reply to you in the future with a picture of that Cast Member and their compliment. Imagine the excitement that Cast Member must feel to get a surprise of someone acknowledging their hard work! I just can’t stop smiling when I think about it.
On my family’s most recent trip, we challenged ourselves to give out at least five cast compliments per day. It was so fun to secretly try to catch a glimpse of each Cast Member’s name tag and immediately tweet a compliment about them! Knowing that they would get to see our kind words sometime in the future made us so happy.
In an effort to keep spreading this positivity to these deserving Cast Members, I challenge YOU to try and leave at least two cast compliments on your next trip to a Disney park! The magic you’ll feel by spreading this kindness will be contagious and you won’t want to stop. In a world of negativity and criticism, why wouldn’t you want to use those 140 characters on Twitter for something positive?!
For me and so many other frequent Disney goers, we visit the Disney parks for the attractions but we come back because of the experience that is provided by 62,000 Cast Members across the Walt Disney World resort. The prices continue to increase, but the crowds aren’t dying down in the parks. I’d say that’s because of a little more than just some pixie dust!
In a recent post on my Instagram, I got the chance to hear special Cast Member moments from lots of Disney lovers and it was awesome to see how many had been touched by this company-wide kindness. I hope we continue to compliment these great people whether it’s online or in person! Everyone deserves to feel appreciated.
What’s a magical moment you’ve experienced because of a Cast Member?
