Disney Eats: Les Chefs de France
Oh, to eat around the World (Showcase)! Epcot has become my favorite park at Walt Disney World as I’ve gotten older, and taking on all of the World Showcase restaurants someday is a goal of mine. So far I’ve only gotten to experience Mexico (You can read my San Angel Inn review here!) and now France. Two down, nine countries to go!
On a trip earlier this year Paris and I made a reservation at Les Chefs de France. This restaurant is simply gorgeous on the outside and sets a great backdrop for the France pavilion so I was excited to experience it for myself!
Chefs De France offers a menu with choices for everyone! From fish to pasta to steak, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy. Since we were on the Disney Dining Plan, we opted for the Prix Fixe menu, which includes your choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert! If you’re familiar with the normal Disney Dining Plan setup, you’ll notice that appetizers usually aren’t included in the meal so this was a fun surprise for us.
For my appetizer I went with the delicious Soupe à Poignon Gratinée (also known as French Onion Soup) topped with Gruyère Cheese. French Onion Soup is one of my personal favorites so having this familiar soup staple on the menu made me smile. Paris chose the Bisque de Homard (also known as Lobster Bisque). Both were a satisfying starts to our meal that had us excited to see what else the meal had to offer!
As for entrees, I chose Boeuf Bourguignon (also known as Braised Beef) in Cabernet with baby onions and carrots, served with linguine pasta . Braised Beef is always my goto so I loved getting to try one of my favorite dishes with pasta! Paris chose the Gratin de macaroni, a dish of baked macaroni with Cream and Gruyère cheese. The portions were large and plentiful!
We were seated in the front area of the restaurant that features all of the beautiful windows. This made for a great viewing spot for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth which was an awesome surprise! We really enjoyed taking in all of the theming as we ate our meal.
When it was time for dessert, we were able to choose our choice of dessert, so I went with the Crème Brûlée. Paris indulged in the Tarte aux Pommes, an Apple Tart with Almond Cream, Caramel Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream.
When you ask someone which pavilion in World Showcase is their favorite, you’ll get a lot of different answers. I will say though that more often than not I hear the France Pavilion. Growing up Mexico and Canada were my very favorite, but the older I get my love for the France pavilion has continued to grow. This pavilion has a lot of love coming its way with the opening of the new Ratatouille ride coming in the near future!
If you’re like me and enjoy taking in the different cultures around the World Showcase, I definitely suggest making a reservation at Les Chefs de France. The reservations are fairly easy to make and there are a lot of food options to choose from! You can check out their full menu here.
