Mickey in Sin City

It’s crazy how fast time flies. This time last week I was sight seeing for the very first time in Las Vegas, Nevada! My husband and I were visiting for the weekend while attending a business conference at Mandalay Bay. Even between all of the speakers and seminars, Nick etched out a few hours for us to explore Las Vegas during the day and we had so much fun!

I feel like I should mention that is was snowing in parts of Las Vegas on the day we were there with temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s! (Basically the opposite of what our friends and family warned us about.) Despite the crazy weather, we still took in everything we could while we were out and about.

Being the girl who always chooses Disney for a vacation destination, I surprisingly had a blast exploring Las Vegas! It was our first trip away just the two of us since our honeymoon (almost 2 years ago) and I just really enjoyed our time together.

Even though I wasn’t at Disney, I still found aspects that reminded me of my happy place which really only made the weekend more magical! For those who have never been to Las Vegas, (or maybe those who have been and aren’t constantly trying to add Disney to everything) I’m here to tell you about the hidden Disney magic I found around Sin City!

Las Vegas is awesome when it comes to transportation along the strip. Much like Disney parks, different hotels in Las Vegas offer trams (AKA monorails) that can help you to make your way around. This really came in handy with the crazy cold weather that we did not pack for! We were able to cover a lot more ground without freezing.

Giant icons and beautiful lights are definitely not in short supply in Las Vegas. After looking into Sin City a little before our trip, I was excited to see that there was a hotel, Excalibur, that had a castle of its own! I couldn’t pass up the photo opportunity in front of this different castle view. Excalibur is right next to another one of our favorite hotels, New York New York. The theming at New York New York was like something out of a Disney attraction! The details on both the inside and outside just made me smile. Lastly I got to enjoy a little bit of World Showcase from the fountain views at the Bellagio hotel. The Eiffel Tower replica was giving me total Ratatouille vibes!

My funniest Disney encounter on the trip would have to be the Mickey Mouse that I met outside of New York New York. I was wearing my red Mickey anorak (from this blog post) so Nick said I had to grab a photo! Sure Mickey’s ear was bent back and he asked me for tips, but I can definitely say it’s a moment on our trip that I’ll never forget! You can check out my pic with the big cheese here.

When I packed for my trip, I was sure to bring a little Mickey with me. Little did I know I’d find a lots of magic all over Sin City! This was the first of many vacays we will have over our lifetime and I’m so glad to have a husband who wants to find the magic right along with me.
