Mickey’s Trick or Treat Oreo Cookies
Happy Halloween! Is it just me, or did October just FLY BY?! I decided to finish off the month on a fun note with this cute treat! After getting to see so many delicious Halloween treats on my two fall Walt Disney World visits this year, I was inspired to make some not so scary treats of my own at home.
From candy apples to decorated rice crispies to cookies galore, there are so many treats to choose from in the parks! I wanted to do something fun, but not with a ton of unnecessary work! I love that this recipe doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and it gives you a chance to get creative! If you’re looking for a fun Halloween activity for your Disney-loving family before trick or treating tonight, this is right up your alley.
- 1 Pack of Double Stuffed Oreos
- 1 Box of Mini Oreos
- 12 Oz Bag of Orange Candy Melts
- 14 Oz Container of Vanilla Icing
- 1 Box of Food Coloring
- 3 Ziplock Bags
- Parchment Paper
- Grab the box of mini Oreos and begin taking them apart to create the mouse ears.
- Be sure to remove the icing and set all of the clean mini Oreos to the side.
- Match up each double stuffed Oreo with two mouse ears and create your mice.
- Use some icing as glue or just push the mouse ears into the double stuffed icing; I found that extra icing wasn't necessary for mine!
- Pour your entire bag of orange candy melts into a microwavable bowl.
- Slowly melt the candy in the microwave for one minute on 50% power.
- Take the candy out and stir to soften.
- Continue microwaving at 50% power for thirty second intervals until candy melts are completely melted.
- Once the candy is melted, start creating your icing colors.
- Take two tablespoons of vanilla icing and put them into a Ziplock bag.
- Add three dots of the food coloring of your choice to the bag and zip the bag up.
- Massage the icing with your hands on the outside of the bag until the color is thoroughly mixed.
- Follow these same steps until you've created all of the colors you desire.
- Take your completed mouse Oreo and dip the bottom half into the candy melt mixture.
- Once the bottom half is covered, place it onto parchment paper and allow the candy melt to dry completely.
- After all of your cookies are dipped and dried, cut a tiny hole in the corner of all of your icing bags to create your decorating tool.
- Let your imagination run wild as you decorate your cookies and create the perfect Disney Halloween treat!
- If you're looking to cut back on drying time for the melted candy, place the dipped cookies into the fridge for five minutes.
- For my cookies, I used orange, yellow, and white which was inspired by candy corn. Feel free to add any additional colors or decorations that you'd like to make your treats perfect!
I’m always missing Disney when I’m not there, but making this cute little treat made my Disney heart happy! It’s always fun to do something out of the ordinary for special occasions, and I think this is a great, no bake decoration to make for Halloween for years to come. Next year I’d love to add more colors and designs. I think a Haunted Mansion purple would be another great color and so fun! I’m still a cookie rookie, so my designs were pretty minimal this year.
Here’s to a safe and Happy Halloween! I’ll be enjoying these cute mouse-shaped cookies with Nick tonight while we wait for trick or treaters!
How would you decorate your Mickey Oreos for Halloween?
