Memories in Muppet Courtyard
It’s time to play the music, It’s time to light the lights…
As a kid on our Disney trips I remember looking the most forward to our days at Disney-MGM Studios. It had the most thrilling attractions, fun and unique experiences, and of course that Hollywood feel. I can think back on so many times I excitedly ran to the front gate of the park, ready to have a star-studded day!
It’s no secret that this park has been getting a complete overhaul over the past few years. With new lands devoted to Toy Story and Star Wars and barely any opening day attractions in sight, it’s a challenge to find some of the original magic that once was Disney-MGM Studios.
For me, there’s one area that still remains virtually untouched from the changes all around at Disney’s Hollywood Studios–and that’s the Muppet Courtyard!
While Muppet*Vision 3D wasn’t an opening day attraction, it has still held its own being a part of the park for over 25 years. I’ve easily seen the show 100 times, but still like to stop by and see it if I can when I’m in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
But Kait…this attraction is totally stuck in 1991, why would you want to keep watching?
I think it has to do with the very end while Kermit is closing out the show and you get a glimpse into a 1990’s Disney-MGM Studios through the busted back wall. The nostalgia of the old balloons and 90’s attire brings me back to those simpler park days before Fastpass+, mobile ordering, and having to plan every second!
With everything else closing around it, I’m not really sure how much longer the Muppet Courtyard and Muppet*Vision 3D will survive in the ever-changing Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For now, I’m just trying to take in what I can and it just so happens that the Muppet Courtyard makes for a pretty fun park photo spot!
All of the bright and neon colors mixed with the Muppets–I really can’t think of a better place to waste a little time in this construction-filled park. My favorite spots would have to be the entrance to the Muppet gift shop and the big blue door near the front of the Muppet Courtyard! Both places are bright and fun and you’ve got to take the time to look at all the little details. When I was trying to come up with outfits for the parks, I knew this neon Tropical Storm print from Lilly Pulitzer would fit perfectly with all the loud and fun aspects of Muppet Courtyard!
If this area looks familar, you may recognize this area from my previous post about my favorite photo spots in each park. Feel free to check out my favorites for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom in this post!
Walt Disney always said that the parks will never be complete, and I’ve think that’s my favorite part about Walt Disney World. I love the chance to experience new things in Walt Disney World, but my heart will always smile when I get a little glimpse of my Disney childhood days and for me that’s old school areas like the Muppet Courtyard!
