Disney Parks

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In a park that is ever changing like Disney’s Hollywood Studios, having a strategy is a must! The Fastpass+ system is no exception. We’ve already covered my top picks for Fastpass+ reservations in Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so now it’s time to cover the park that’s currently under a huge remodel!

Much like Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios also follows a Tier system for their Fastpass+ reservations. You can choose from attractions in two tiers when making your three initial Fastpass+ reservations.

In Tier 1, you’ll find more popular attractions: Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, Fantasmic!, Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, and Toy Story Midway Mania.

In Tier 2, you’ll find less popular attractions: Disney Junior – Live on Stage, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, MuppetVision 3D, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

There are definitely stand out attractions in both tiers, so I’m gonna share the low down on which Fastpass+ reservations you should try to tackle first!

Tier 1 Picks

Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Fastpass Tips | Fastpass Ideas | Disney Fastpass Tips | Disney's Hollywood Studios Fastpasses | Hollywood Studios Fastpass Ideas | Hollywood Studios Rides | Hollywood Studios Tips | Hollywood Studios Attractions | Disney Tips | WDW Tips | Kait Around The Kingdom | @kaitkillebrew

This rollercoaster is a must for any thrill seeker! Fast cars, rocking tunes, and backstage passes to Aerosmith, what could be better? With a limo going from 0 to 57 miles per hour in only 2.8 seconds, it’s safe to say this is a pretty wild ride.  Not to mention this is the only attraction on Walt Disney World property that features a loop! Wait times are always high for this attraction except for right at park opening, so if you’re looking to rock out to Aerosmith with your whole party you’re going to want to secure a Fastpass+ reservation for this.

Pro Tip: If you don’t mind riding with a stranger, there’s always another option to skip the long line. Single Rider is an option for Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster and can be a great way to have a chance to ride again if you end up loving it as much as I do! Although you won’t get to ride right next to a person in your party, at least you have more time to ride other attractions with all of the time you’ll be saving. As always, rope drop is always another great option. Even if you don’t ride this first, the wait time is still going to be shorter within the first hour of park opening than it will be throughout the rest of the day!

Toy Story Midway Mania

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Fastpass Tips | Fastpass Ideas | Disney Fastpass Tips | Disney's Hollywood Studios Fastpasses | Hollywood Studios Fastpass Ideas | Hollywood Studios Rides | Hollywood Studios Tips | Hollywood Studios Attractions | Disney Tips | WDW Tips | Kait Around The Kingdom | @kaitkillebrew

This is one of my absolute favorites in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — and it’s everyone else’s favorite as well. As a huge Toy Story fan, this attraction is a must for me when I’m visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you’re wondering what the most competitive Fastpass+ reservation for this park is, Toy Story Midway Mania is your answer every time! Besides being a complete blast, this is also one of the only attractions that is still open in the parks that kids can ride. While some people always pick this as their number one choice for their Tier 1 Fastpass+ reservation, I tend to disagree. Aside from the added stress of having to book this Fastpass+ reservation so far in advance, there’s just an easier way to ride this attraction without a long wait time!

Pro Tip: Say it with me — Rope Drop! Don’t knock it till you try it folks. The early bird really does get to worm when it comes to low wait times in Disney parks! Anytime I visit Walt Disney World, I plan for a rope drop day when I visit Hollywood Studios because I know that I can ride Toy Story Midway Mania with virtually no wait time. All while still having my Tier 1 Fastpass+ Reservation booked as well, (usually for Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster) so I’m basically knocking out two Fastpass+ reservations in my first hour at the park!

Tier 2 Picks

Tower of Terror

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Fastpass Tips | Fastpass Ideas | Disney Fastpass Tips | Disney's Hollywood Studios Fastpasses | Hollywood Studios Fastpass Ideas | Hollywood Studios Rides | Hollywood Studios Tips | Hollywood Studios Attractions | Disney Tips | WDW Tips | Kait Around The Kingdom | @kaitkillebrew

Step aboard, if you dare, to take an elevator that travels directly to…The Twilight Zone. If you’re a huge fan of Disney’s amazing theming, Tower of Terror will blow you away. Sometimes when I haven’t visited Disney in awhile and ride this ride for the first time of my trip, I get butterflies all over again from all of the suspense! Dare devils 40″ and taller can drop by the Hollywood Tower Hotel and experience another one of my favorites at Walt Disney World. Be sure to smile big for the camera when the windows open up to the park!

Pro Tip: While Fastpass+ reservations are usually easy to grab for this ride, even if you can’t get one in time your wait time will probably be shorter than expected! The Tower of Terror moves between 1800-2000 people an hour, so you usually won’t be waiting for long. Also try to keep an eye out of secret shorter wait times! If you see the wait time “13” that means there is no wait.

Star Tours

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Fastpass Tips | Fastpass Ideas | Disney Fastpass Tips | Disney's Hollywood Studios Fastpasses | Hollywood Studios Fastpass Ideas | Hollywood Studios Rides | Hollywood Studios Tips | Hollywood Studios Attractions | Disney Tips | WDW Tips | Kait Around The Kingdom | @kaitkillebrew

With the excitement of the upcoming Star Wars Land scheduled to open in 2019, it’s no wonder that this attraction is a favorite among Walt Disney World guests! This attraction has been around for awhile, but got an update in 2011 almost completely recreating this classic simulator attraction. Star Tours now features over 50 possible ride combinations that showcases different characters and scenarios in each. My husband always hopes we get a scenario with Darth Vadar, but we rarely see him with so many combinations! Since this is a simulator it may not be a good fit for everyone, so be sure to ride at your own risk!

Pro Tip: In my past experience, Fastpass+ reservations for Star Tours are usually still available day of so this may be a good option to save once you use your initial three Fastpass+ reservations. This is another ride that can move a lot of people in a short amount of time, so you may find that stand by wait times really aren’t too bad!

MuppetVision 3D

My Fastpass+ Picks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Fastpass Tips | Fastpass Ideas | Disney Fastpass Tips | Disney's Hollywood Studios Fastpasses | Hollywood Studios Fastpass Ideas | Hollywood Studios Rides | Hollywood Studios Tips | Hollywood Studios Attractions | Disney Tips | WDW Tips | Kait Around The Kingdom | @kaitkillebrew

While this may not be a top pick for everyone, I think MuppetVision 3D is something that everyone should get to experience at least once! Major pros of this attraction: air conditioning in the Florida heat, a chance to sit down after miles and miles of walking around the park, and a pretty entertaining show. As more attractions continue to open up around Disney’s Hollywood Studios my Tier 2 picks will change, but for now MuppetVision 3D is on my list! It’s another attraction that everyone can enjoy together and it’s more low key and relaxed for wait times than other attractions that you may find in the park.

Pro Tip: Looking for a different show to watch if you’ve seen this before? Watch the two old guys on the balcony to the right of the stage! Not only do they make hilarious comments throughout the show, but they react to everything going on. If you’ve done MuppetVision 3D before, I suggest paying attention to them the next time you visit. They steal the show in my opinion!

I’m so excited to see what’s to come for Disney’s Hollywood Studios! With so many new things and fun attractions opening in the next few years, it’s sure to be a blast. As for now if you’re planning a day in this under-construction park, this Fastpass+ guide can be your best friend!

Oh I’ve never have been to anything Disney! It’s always good to know what’s there though, so maybe I’ll take my kids one day (far into the future lol). The Rocking Roller Coaster looks like a really good time! 🙂

It’s been way too long since I’ve been to Disney. The Toy Story ride sounds so fun, and I think I would love the Star Wars ride now that I’ve seen the movies!

I’ve honestly never been to Disney, but I’ll be sure to visit these spots (with a FastPass) if I ever do!

My mom doesn’t like Rockin’ Roller Coaster so usually my dad, my sisters, and I go on that at rope drop and then we usually have a Tower of Terror fastpass for right after, which we all do as a family! And Toy Story Mania is a family fav for us (my mom always kicks eveyone’s butts) so that’s a must of course!

I haven’t been to Disney since I was like 11 or something but I went on Tower of Terror and Rock N’ Rollercoaster. I totally want to go back soon!

I always forget that Florida still has Tower of Terror, after they turned the one in CA into Guardians!
