How to Keep Your Phone Charged in the Disney Parks
Whether you’re checking your Fastpass+ reservations and dining plans on the My Disney Experience app or taking that perfect castle shot with your family, a charged phone is a must in the Disney Parks. Nothing is worse than getting that ‘low battery’ notification just hours into your Best Day Ever! (And let’s be real — If you didn’t Snapchat or Instagram Story in the parks did you really go?)
After countless trips to Walt Disney World (most with a phone in hand), I’ve gathered a few tips that go a long way in making your battery life last in the parks. If this is your first trip or your hundredth trip, you can definitely benefit from these battery-saving hacks.
Pro Tip: Keep Your Phone on Low Battery Mode
Low Battery Mode is a setting available on iPhones that I like to take advantage of in the Disney parks, especially if I’m without charging equipment for my day. When your phone is only Low Battery Mode, battery-draining features are disabled helping your device to last longer! When you’re on vacation in the parks and taking in all of the beauty and excitement of everything, chances are you won’t be checking your phone as often anyway. By taking a second to prep for the day, you’ll have the extra battery power to take all of those perfect Disney shots!
How to Enable Low Battery Mode:
- Head to Settings
- Under the third section find Battery
- Enable your Low Battery Mode by moving the slider to green
It’s that easy! To find out even more about Low Battery Mode you can check out the details here.
Well what about Androids? After doing some research it looks like Android users have the option to use a Battery Saver app to cut down on battery usage. You can download the Battery Saver app here.
Pro Tip: Use Charging Stations and Outlets Around the Parks
I still remember the days when we would sit down to our dining reservation at Disney and the first thing I would look for was a wall outlet near our table. Always taking that chance and leaving your phone across the room just to try and charge up a little while you ate. This method is quickly becoming a thing of the past thanks to Charging Stations and additional outlets that are readily available around the Disney Parks.
One of the great things about Disney is that things are always changing to try and better serve guests. Due of the growing need of phone usage in the parks, (whether we’re checking our My Disney Experience app or just checking a text) Disney has added charging stations and additional outlets in resting areas throughout the parks.
If you’re in a resting area (near bathrooms, seating, etc) you’re bound to find an outlet or place to charge your phone — just look around! With Disney nothing is an accident. Near the Tangled Bathrooms in Fantasyland there are even hidden charging stations in the seating area. Perfect for people watching or stopping to eat!

Pro Tip: Buy a Fuel Rod
Recently my most favorite way to keep my phone charged in the parks with with portable charging packs. I’ve always purchased portable chargers in advance at Walmart or Target for $5-$10, charged them each night before a park day, and kept them in my park bag. This method is great if you’ve got more than one on hand, but for a longer park day you may find yourself needing to recharge. (And who wants to sit and recharge their chargers in the parks?)
Disney has started offering a pretty convenient solution to this problem. Over the past few years they have been adding FuelRod stations throughout the Disney Parks, Resorts, Disney Springs, and even Waterparks!
So what’s the deal with FuelRods?
FuelRods are portable charger kits that can be purchased for $30 (one time) in the parks at convenient FuelRod stations. This price may sound a bit steep, but when you learn what it comes with and the extra convenience factor you make think differently!
So what’s included with a FuelRod?
Your FuelRod Includes:
- A fully-charged FuelRod to power your devices.
- Adapters for both Android and Apple devices that are yours to keep, at no additional charge.
- The ability to be recharged in any standard wall outlet.
- The ability to swap out for a fully charged FuelRod at little to no additional cost at any FuelRod SwapBox.
You can even save $5 by ordering one online in advance here!
Since I decided to take the chance and buy a FuelRod, I’ve really been enjoying the park convenience. First of all, I had no idea that your FuelRod came with charging cords. I thought this was a really cool add-on, especially for those who don’t come prepared with a cord in the parks like I do! (And honestly you’d probably pay $15-$20 for just the cord anywhere else.)
Convenience is key for me when it comes to the parks these days. While I still carry my additional portable chargers with me just in case, I love knowing that when my FuelRod gets low I can just find a nearby kiosk and get a fully-charged one in seconds at no extra cost!
