Three Perks of Finding Your (Disney) Person
For me, Disney isn’t a destination — It’s a lifestyle. From a young age I’ve always shown an obsession for all things Disney, and that is not a characteristic that I share with most people! In my freshman year of high school in a Career Planning class, Disney brought me and one of my best friends together. How magical is that?
We went from never speaking or hanging out to full on conversations about attractions, movies, and dreaming up future trips together! Little did I know that almost ten years later this would still be a huge part of our friendship!
Every Disney lover has got their Disney person. It may be a significant other, a sibling, or a friend, but when you find them these are some perks you can look forward to!
They’re Always Down for a Disney Convo
My favorite topic of conversation is always going to be Disney. Paris and I share this favorite topic, which makes for some of the best conversations! In a normal conversation we will discuss our Disney Withdrawals, any new Disney movie releases on Netflix or new Disney Parks items we have to have, and we always try start trying to plan out our next Disney trip together.
Disney jokes and insiders are a must for us! You never know when they can come in handy. It may be long bus rides back to the resort, a scavenger hunt for the perfect Disney souvenir, or keeping your cool in the Florida heat, but with your Disney person by your side you’re unstoppable!
They Understand Your Disney Side More Than You Do
You may think you know the extent of your Disney obsession, but your Disney person knows you better! We all have our favorite Disney movies and characters. When it comes to Paris, she has always had a love for Nightmare Before Christmas! I have the best time being able to surprise her with something special from her favorite movies for her birthday or a holiday. Your Disney person will do the same for you and sometimes in more ways than just gifts.
For my wedding, Paris, my Maid of Honor, and my amazing bridesmaids all surprised me with a Tangled themed bridal shower. The coolest thing about this was that it was not an idea or request that I had voiced to anyone, but sometimes people just know you better than you know yourself. Whether it is birthday gifts, party themes, or movie choices, your Disney person knows what you’ll love and that makes for some fun surprises!
They Will Be Your Disney Person for Life
It requires a special kind of passion for a person to want to visit Disney parks pretty much 24/7! I find these kinds of people to be few and far between, which is tough for me because I’m always trying to get back to my happy place. Luckily I’ve found my Disney person and they are always ready to hop on a plane to the Happiest Place on Earth! She understands what a true Disney parks day entails when it comes to transportation, planning, and of course eating. Paris and I have got our Disney trip system down and it feels good!
We had our first #BestieDreamTrip2k17 this year and we plan to continue these trips twice a year for the unforeseeable future. Here’s to lifelong bestie Disney adventures!
Although Paris will always be my original Disney person, finding more Disney friends has been easier than ever in the past year or so! Whether your love of Disney is big or small, you can find friends through the Disney Community on Instagram. (Follow me here and Paris here!) It’s been really cool to see how a love of movies and theme parks could bring people from around the world together on one social platform! I’m excited to see what other Disney friendships I make in the years to come.

October 17, 2017 at 10:48 amThis is so cute! I live in San Diego, and Disneyland is only an hour or so drive from where we live, yet I have never been to. Can you believe how ridiculous that is? Haha! Perhaps it’s because I know it won’t go anywhere (at least anytime soon), so I haven’t been that much excited to visit. By the way, I just moved here in the US two and a half years ago (in case you’re wondering). π
