Join Russell and his furry friend Dug on an adventure perfect for a Wilderness Explorer! This all-new UP!-inspired attraction features an up-close look at various bird species from around the world. To celebrate the holiday season, UP! A Great Bird Adventure will have a special version of the show from Nov. 8, 2018 until Jan. 1, 2019 to help guests discover the story of Diwali! Character Meet & Greets
Wild about the holiday season? So are the Disney’s Animal Kingdom characters! At Adventurer Outpost, you can normally meet safari Mickey and Minnie, but this time of year your favorite mice are sporting adorable holiday sweaters. Take advantage of FastPass+ reservations for this meet and greet to save some time waiting in line. Mickey and Minnie aren’t the holiday ones getting into the holiday spirit. Guests can also find Goofy as Santa Claus right in Dinoland. Any other Disney’s Animal Kingdom characters like King Louie, Baloo, Donald Duck and Chip and Dale can also be found around the park in holiday attire this time of the year.
Holiday Decor
Each park and resort on Walt Disney World property is decorated to match a specific theme, along with custom ornaments. For Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the holiday decor starts before you even enter the park! Outside of the entrance you’ll find a gigantic Christmas tree decorated in custom, animal-themed ornaments. Below the tree are fun Disney animal-themed toys and cutouts, like a train featuring Stitch as the conductor or a jack in the box with Tigger! As you enter the park you’ll find beautiful custom garlands in Discovery Island and tacky holiday decorations in Dinoland. Even the big dinosaur in the gift shop outside of DINOSAUR becomes Santa Saurus for the holidays.
As you can see, each park celebrates this festive time of year in its own way, and you won’t want to miss these unique experiences at Walt Disney World’s youngest park. From a special holiday attraction overlay to a Santa Saurus, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is definitely worth a visit during this magical time of the year!
