Four Tips to Keep Cool in the Disney Parks
The first day of summer is about a week away, but the heat has already arrived in Orlando! With daily temperatures in the 90’s and higher (not to mention the humidity) you’ll want to be prepared if you’re vacationing to the Most Magical Place on Earth this summer.
Here are my top tips to help you keep cool in the Disney Parks!
Disney in the Evening
One of the easiest ways to see cooler weather during your Disney days is going to the parks later in the day. Sleep in, spend some time by the pool or going shopping, and aim to hit the parks from late afternoon to close! Aside from the parks being their own kind of magical at night (my favorite time of the day!), you’ll also avoid big crowds and the highest daily temperatures that come with that Florida sunshine.
Pro Tip: If you are looking to enjoy shorter wait times, skip the fireworks! You’ll have a chance to knock a few more attractions off your list and you may still catch some of the show from the ride or while waiting in line.
Snack on a Frozen Treat
Whether it’s a Dole Whip or a Mickey Bar, your favorite Disney Parks snack may be your perfect fix for the hot weather. In Walt Disney World, ice cream carts are never in short supply so you’re sure to find your favorite! There’s nothing like sitting in the shade and enjoying a treat while you cool off. In a vacation destination that is usually fast paced, you’ll cherish those more laid back moments!
Pro Tip: Love Dole Whip, but don’t love that line? Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app to keep your wait time down!
See A Show
If you do find yourself in the parks during the day this summer, you’re going to want to take advantage of air conditioning whenever you can! Disney offers lots of indoor attractions that are the perfect way to cool off when the heat gets to be too much. With shows averaging 20 minutes in duration, this leaves you just enough time to relax (maybe take a cat nap) and get refreshed before heading back out into the parks!
Here are the shows that you’ll want to visit to get some relief from the heat:
Magic Kingdom
- Country Bear Jamboree
- Enchanted Tales with Belle
- The Hall of Presidents
- Mickey’s Philarmagic
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Epcot
- The American Adventure
- Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
- Impressions de France
- O Canada!
- Reflections of China
- Turtle Talk With Crush
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Stay Hydrated
The thirst is real in the summer months at Walt Disney World! Don’t be caught splurging on drinks to cool off in the parks. Bring your own water bottle and refill it throughout the day. You’ll save some money and stay cool at the same time! When you do stop to eat, ask for a cup of water with your meal — they’re free. This rule also applies at Starbucks locations in the parks, so don’t pass up that trenta ice water!
Pro Tip: If you’re in Epcot, stop by Club Cool and take advantage of my favorite Disney freebie! You can try sodas from around the world and enjoy some air conditioning. (Be sure to drink some Beverly for me.)
