Seven Activities Your Family Can Do at Tokyo Disney Resort

If you find yourself in Tokyo, you’ll find the Tokyo Disney Resort that houses DisneySea and the renowned Disneyland theme parks. You’ll recognize the place from the iconic spires of the Cinderella Castle.

There are tons of things to experience in this grand resort, especially as it has seen plenty of expansion since it first opened in 1983. Because of how big the place is, you definitely won’t be short on activities, whether you are going on a quick trip or planning an extended vacation. If your family happens to love all things, Disney, you may also want to join the official fan club for Disney, as it comes with tons of perks (including discounts!)

Make sure you bring the whole family, as it is important for children to travel so that they learn new experiences, be open to new cultures, improve their social skills, and develop a more relaxed yet adventurous demeanor. More than that, it’s also a good way for the whole family to make happy memories that will last for years. Should you visit Disney Tokyo, check out some of the great activities you can do.

If you’re looking to go shopping at a place that caters to every age group in the family, make sure you drop by Ikspiari. It’s very grand, especially for a shopping mall, so visiting alone is quite the journey. Located within the Tokyo Disney Resort, this four-level mall has a huge variety of outlets for different interests.

While it also includes a lot of non-Disney stores, you can also find some cool merchandise from both popular favorites and even lesser-known characters like the Orange Bird that have long represented Disney parks.

Meet and Greet Classic Disney Characters

One of the best things you can do is simply take a stroll around the different park sections to meet the colorful characters birthed by Disney through the years. Everyone stays in character at all times, so it’s easy to feel immersed in the world as you greet each character.

As if getting a photo op wasn’t fun enough for the whole family, you can also make a little game by getting the kids to do some trivia. Tokyo Disney has a penchant for having rare appearances from favorites, as they are one of the few Disney parks that had the triplets Huey, Dewey, and Louie roam around!

Relive the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast

Who doesn’t love the tantalizing tale of Beauty and the Beast? In this attraction, you get to ride in magical cups that dance to the melodies from the movie. As you ride in the cups, you will be taken through some of the most memorable scenes coming to life.

It’s natural that young children will enjoy this ride, but it’s definitely a great experience for adults, too. In fact, a recent poll of over 500 women revealed that the most popular Disney princess among adult women is Belle! So, this ride definitely has something for everyone in the family.

Get Adventurous in the Tower of Terror

If you want a little more excitement in your Disney adventures, you may want to visit the Tower of Terror. The name of the attraction may seem intimidating, but it’s actually an interesting mystery to explore together. As long as your children hit the 103 cm height minimum, they’re good to go!

A cool fact about the tower is that it is not just present in Tokyo DisneySea. There are actually terrors all around the world in different Disney parks. Because the Twilight Zone was not popular in Japan, the one in Tokyo is unique as it has its own little story.

Watch Stitch at the Enchanted Tiki Room

Lilo & Stitch is all about “Ohana” and the importance of family, so it’s a no-brainer to visit Stitch and watch “Aloha E Komo Mai!” at the Enchanted Tiki Room. As Stitch plays his guitar and the birds come to life, you can just sit back and enjoy the show.

It only runs for about ten minutes, so it’s great for both fussy children and adults who may not want to be stuck in one attraction for too long. Even if your children are very little, they are allowed into this show. This can be a great opportunity because music has been shown to improve brain development for babies and young children.

Ride on Big Thunder Mountain

If you’re going to a Disney theme park, you can’t go wrong with a roller coaster ride. Big Thunder Mountain is an uproarious adventure that takes you through an old gold mine (safe and fictional, of course) in just four minutes. As long as each family member is not pregnant, not of advanced age, and is at least 102 cm in height, they should be able to ride.

It’s a very thrilling experience for kids and adults alike without being too overwhelming, so it’s truly best to go together. Experts in child psychology have noted that children feel more equipped to take on unfamiliar experiences when their parents sign on too.

Grab Some Grub at the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall

There are plenty of cool spots to eat at when you visit Tokyo Disneyland, but one you cannot miss is the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall. The space is meant to look like it’s from the world of Alice in Wonderland, with its dishes matching that fantastic theme.

The buffeteria style gives you ample freedom to get the food you like, which is especially helpful if you have family members that are either picky or have quite an appetite. The banquet hall also offers a specific children’s menu, so you don’t have to worry about finding meals that suit your kids’ tastes.

Is Tokyo Disney Resort on your Disney Bucket List? While the domestic parks are great, it’s clear that there are so many unique details that can only be found at Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland!
