My First Saints Game & A New Tradition is Born
It’s only been a week since we hit six months of marriage and we are already doing big things! Today I attended my first regular season Saints game and it was also the start of our first new tradition in our marriage.
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with everything Disney, but my husband has an obsession as well. Nick is all about football, but specifically the New Orleans Saints.
Nick and I have always wanted to start new traditions together once we got married. We agreed to try and make two trips together every year. One trip would be to Walt Disney World for me and the other trip would be to see the Saints play at an away game for Nick. To make things interesting our goal is to see the Saints play all thirty one opponents in their hometowns, but only one game per year. We are looking at over thirty cities in the next over thirty years!
Since 2016 was a pretty pricey year for us, we decided to start out our tradition with a home game in the Mercedes Benz Superdome! Who wouldn’t take advantage of the opportunity to spend the day in the city?
When we looked at the schedule this year, Nick had a game in mind. November 27, 2016, when the New Orleans Saints were playing the Los Angeles Rams. For our honeymoon in May, we vacationed in Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, and Disneyland so we found this game fitting for the kick off of our tradition.
And what a perfect game it was! The Saints beat the Rams with a final score of 49-21. I’d say that’s a good sign for this tradition!
We sat in literally the highest seats in the dome, but we created some fun memories and got a great leg workout! I’m so excited to get the chance to visit so many cities together. It should be quite the adventure.
On our journey to visit all thirty two cities, we have one city down and thirty one to go!Β What city should we visit first and what are some traditions that you have in your family?
